Sally Hutchison was born in Wisconsin and received her
M.F.A. in painting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1983. She
has had recent solo exhibitions at the Dean Jensen Gallery in 
Milwaukee,
and at Milward Farrell Fine Arts in Madison. She was included in the 1998
edition of New American Paintings, a juried exhibition in print. She is currently
a member of Westwing Studios, an artist collective in Verona, Wisconsin.
Hutchison was co-director of the Wisconsin Academy Gallery from 1993 to 1998.
The curvilinear sound holes of the violin become handles of a blue vase.
A black stem, green leaves, and a reddish flower emerge from the body and
bridge of the violin. The reconfigured front
surface transforms the violin into a still life.
