S.V. Medaris (Sue) was born in California
in the 60's, and grew up in the Midwest. She graduated from the University
of California, Santa Barbara with a Fine Art degree, and traveled and lived
in various parts of México and Central America. Later, Sue settled down
in Wisconsin and graduated from Madison Area Technical College (Wisconsin)
with a Commercial Art degree. During this latter educational experience, she
discovered how to communicate with visual art. From there, Sue made the transition
back into Fine Art – with oils, pastels and intaglio – portraying
the drama of rural life on the farm.
THE VIOLIN
Poultry Pas de Deux:
The subject matter was something I'd planned to do as a
regular painting, but when the violin came along, the scene appeared to fit
the shape of the instrument perfectly. For a musical theme,... well, there
was something lyrical about the way the Sicilian Buttercup male (behind)
was checking out the Egyptian Fayoumi hen in the foreground. It really did
seem to be a Pas de Deux —2
steps forward for him, and 2 steps forward for her—she in a very graceful
nonchalant way yet always keeping equidistant from the male partner/stalker
behind.
Male (Rooster) Variation:
The back needed to be a variation from the front,
and a close up of the star of the "Male Variation" seemed to fit
nicely. The Sicilian Buttercup was dramatically backlit for maximum drama
in this section of the Pas de Deux.
