The Art of Note committee selects at least one violin each year that they make available as a Purchase Award for either individual collectors, museums, or businesses that support the arts through their corporate collections.    The violin selected last year was created by regional artist Lois Mueller and was purchased by the Lodi Canning Company.

This year, the committee has selected the work of art created by Sam Gilliam, acclaimed as one of the most important and inventive colorists of the last thirty years.  We believe this work to be more than a “colorful violin”.  It is a stunning piece of art that also invokes the vibrancy and energy of our musical world.

We also believe it would be a significant and spectacular addition to an individual collection, a museum’s body of work by Sam Gilliam, or a business art collection.  It is offered to you for your consideration.  Mr. Gilliam has established it’s value at $25,000, and we are accepting offers on this remarkable piece.
